John Becanic

Head Coach

Born and raised in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario 

Began his coaching career in the early 90’s as an assistant coach under future Jack Adams winner Ted Nolan (Buffalo, NYI) winning a Memorial Cup together in 1993 with the Soo Greyhounds. 

 Tier II Jr. coaching stops in Bismarck, Pittsburgh, Wenatchee, Topeka and Corpus Christi.

 In Pittsburgh, led his 2003 Pittsburgh Forge team to the USA Hockey Junior A National Championship. 

 Served 4 years as the Associate Head Coach with the Everett Silvertips of the WHL serving under former NHL head coach, Kevin Constantine. (San Jose, Pittsburgh, New Jersey). In their first year as an expansion franchise, the Silvertips became the first and only CHL team to make it to the league finals in their first season.

Promoted to Head Coach of the Silvertips in 2006.

Two additional stops in the WHL as an associate head coach in Seattle and Vancouver serving under former NHL coach Don Hay. In total, John has coached over 60 NHL draft picks.

After stepping away from a year 30 coaching career, John founded Pyramid Hockey 2016.  With a passion for helping players and mentoring coaches, Pyramid’s primary focus was player/coach development through Hockey IQ. 

In 2019, John founded and served as the CEO of The Prospect Exchange (TPE), a video and analytics platform. After acquiring ICEBERG Sports Analytics and growing TPE, John sold and stepped away from the company so that he could get back to working with players on the IQ side. In 2023 he partnered with Minnesota Advancement Program (MAP), and designed and implemented an online virtual IQ program for youth hockey in MN.

In January of 2024, John was offered the opportunity to get back behind the bench for the Idaho Falls Spud Kings. A team that in their 2nd year, won the Dineen Cup Championship.

John resides with his wife of 36 years, Rhonda in Queen Creek AZ. He has two married daughters, Brooklyn 31, and Sheridan 30.

Ryan Anderson

Assistant Coach
Native of Kingsford, MI, Anderson prepares for his 2nd season behind the bench as an Assistant Coach at the ECHL level.  During the 2024-205 season Anderson was the Assistant Coach of the Reading Royals.  Reading was able to qualify for the Kelly Cup Playoffs eventually falling to the Kelly Cup Champions Trois-Riviere Lions.  Prior to his time in Reading, Anderson has extensive experience in junior hockey  He spent seven seasons behind the bench in various roles in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) and North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL).  Anderson was named NA3HL Coach of the Year during the 2019-2020 season, the team earned a league best 40-5-2 record along with the 2019-2020 Regular Season Championship.
 
Before his coaching career, Anderson served in the Navy for six years as an electronics technician. Following his service of four deployments, Anderson was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, In 2015-16, Anderson was brought on to serve as a video coach for the Norfolk Admirals in the ECHL where he spent the remainder of the 2015-16 season and the full 2016-17 campaign under the coaching staff of United States Hockey Hall of Famer, Robbie Ftorek.

Dynamo-Minsk KHL, Geneve-Servette Swiss National League, Nuremberg Ice Tigers DEL, Salzburg Red Bull, 2004 Team USA U-18 Silver Medalist, 2005 Team USA U18 Gold Medalist, 2005 7th overall draft pick, 2006 NCAA D1 National Champion, 2006 & 2007 Member of Team USA U-20 World Junior Championship Teams, 2007 Team USA U-20 World Junior Championship Bronze Medalist, Injured Reserve Player for 2010 Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup Champions, Member of 2011 Team USA World Championships Team,  700 games played professional, Current NHL & Pro Off-Season Skills Coach, and Owner of multiple businesses.
