Taylor Richart Named to All-Star Team
West Valley City, Utah – Utah Grizzlies captain, defenseman Taylor Richart has been named to the 2020 Warrior/ECHL All-Star Classic presented by Toyota on Wednesday January 22nd at Wichita’s INTRUST Bank Arena. The game will start at 6:00 MT and will air LIVE exclusively on NHL Network.
Richart is second in the league in goals by a defenseman with 9. He leads the Grizzlies in shots with 105. He has 5 power play goals and a plus-minus rating of +8.
Taylor was named team captain on October 11th, 2019 in the season opener of his fourth season with the club. In 4 professional seasons he has 114 points (41 goals, 73 assists) in 224 games. He had 112 points in the decade of the 2010s, which was the most among all Grizzlies defenseman.
Grizzlies next homestand is on January 17th and 18th vs Wichita and January 20th at 1:00 pm vs Idaho. January 17th is an AFCU Friday. The 18th is Guns N Hoses night with charity games starting at 12:30 pm leading up to the Grizzlies game at 7 o clock. January 20th is DC Comics day with specialty jersey’s. Richart tied for the ECHL lead for goals by a defenseman (17) in the 2017-18 season. He was selected with the Grizzlies community service award for the 2018-19 season.
Son of Kae and Scott Richart. Father, Scott, played hockey at the University of Minnesota. He was a sport leadership and management major at Miami (Ohio).
Richart was named captain of the Grizzlies on October 11th, 2019. Richart got his 100th Grizzlies point with a goal on November 9th at Kansas City. Richart has 41 goals and 73 assists (114 points) for Utah in 3 and a half seasons.
2020 All-Star Format
Following the format established last season, the Warrior/ECHL All-Star Classic will feature a 3-on-3 tournament with four teams competing for the top spot. The host Wichita Thunder will make up two of the four teams and face-off against the other two teams made up of All-Star players from the Eastern and Western Conference. These four teams will compete in a 3-on-3 tournament with rally scoring in order to crown a winner. The 2020 Kansas Star Casino/ECHL All-Star Skills Competition will take place in between rounds of the tournament, with results counting towards the cumulative score.
