Martin Ouellette Named ECHL Goaltender of the Month
West Valley City, Utah – Utah Grizzlies goaltender Martin Ouellette has been named as the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Month for December.
Ouellette won all 8 games in a Utah uniform in the month after being acquired in a trade with the Atlanta Gladiators. With Utah he has a goals against average of 1.48 and a .943 save percentage. The Grizzlies were 9-1-2 for the month.
Ouellette was named ECHL Goaltender of the Week from December 9-15 for winning 2 games and stopping 51 of 53 shots against the Newfoundland Growlers in his first 2 games in a Grizzlies uniform.
For his ECHL career, Ouellette has a record of 112-51-12 with 11 shutouts, a 2.53 Goals Against Average and a .912 save percentage. He has a .930 save percentage and a 2.15 goals against average in 27 games in the American Hockey League.
It is the first time a Grizzlies netminder has won the monthly award since Igor Bobkov won in March 2014. In fact the Grizzlies won the Goaltender of the Month award 3 months in a row that year. Aaron Dell, currently with the NHL’s San Jose Sharks won for January 2014 and Bobkov won for both February and March that year.
