Tonight’s Matchup
West Valley City, Utah – Friday night’s game between the Utah Grizzlies and the Allen Americans had all the billings of a premier ECHL matchup, and yet, somehow, exceeded all expectations.
After taking a 4-2 lead early in the 3rd period, the Grizzlies found themselves gridlocked in yet another overtime bout. Grizzlies forward Mitch Maxwell, fresh off his shootout winner on Monday against Idaho, came through once again for the Grizzlies to score the lone shootout goal that lifted Utah to a 5-4 victory. Grizzlies forward Tim McGauley now shares the league lead in overall points with Allen’s Tyler Sheehy at 51. If you’re a fan of the theatrics, expect nothing less for tonight’s encore performance between these two high powered offenses.
