Brassard Wins it in Overtime for Utah
West Valley City, Utah – JC Brassard scored 1:52 in overtime as the Utah Grizzlies defeated the Orlando Solar Bears 2-1 on Friday night at Maverik Center.
Grizz scored first as Eric Williams delivered a power play goal 9:01 into the game on a pass from Joe Wegwerth. Felix Lauzon also got an assist, his first as a pro. Orlando tied up the game with 2:22 left in the first as Chris LeBlanc got his fourth of the season.
Both goaltenders delivered good performances. Grizz goalie Hunter Miska stopped 29 of 30 shots in his first ECHL game since October 11th. Miska got his first win with Utah. He is coming off a successful 6 game stint with the Colorado Eagles in the AHL, where he had a 1.95 goals against average and a .941 save percentage. Solar Bears goalie Clint Windsor stopped 31 of 33 shots.
Game 2 of the weekend series is Saturday night at Maverik Center. 7 pm face-off. Both teams have identical records of 5-7-2-1 on the season. Both the Grizzlies and Solar Bears have 13 standings points.
