West Valley City, Utah – It’s game night for the Utah Grizzlies as they take on the Idaho Steelheads.
It’s the 14th meeting between the two teams this season. Utah has a record of 7-5-1 vs Idaho this year.
Fan Appreciation Weekend is April 6th at 7:00 pm and April 7th at 1:00 pm. Tickets are available now at the Maverik Center box office.

The Grizzlies are back home after 7 straight on the road. Utah went 2-4-0-1 on the trip.
Home Playoff Dates Announced
It’s unknown who the Grizzlies are playing in the first round so games 1 and 2 are still TBD. We do know the 3 Grizzlies home playoff dates for the first round.
Grizzlies are home for game 3 on Wednesday, April 17th at 7:05 pm.
Game 4 is on Friday, April 19th at 7:05 pm.
Game 5 is on Saturday, April 20th at 7:05 pm.
Last Night: 3-1 Loss
Utah lost 3-1 to the Idaho Steelheads on Friday night at CenturyLink Arena in Boise. Utah took a 1-0 lead on a Kevin Davis power play goal 12:53 into the second period. Ty Lewis and Cole Ully got the assists for Utah. Idaho tied up the game with 1:03 left in the 2nd period as AJ White scored a power play goal. Kevin Carr got a game misconduct after the goal was scored and Alex Leclerc was brought in to make his professional debut. Lecerc stopped 9 of 10. Carr finished the night stopping 20 of 21. Jeff King gave Idaho a 2-1 lead with 7:01 left in the 3rd period. Steelheads added an empty net goal with 38 seconds left to complete the scoring.
Caleb Herbert Named First Team All ECHL
Herbert is 5th in the league with 31 goals. He also leads the team with 37 assists and is tied for 4th in the league with 68 points. Herbert has been big on the power play as he has 28 power play points, which is tied for 2nd best in the league.
He is the first player since current Grizzlies Assistant Coach Ryan Kinasewich to be named first team all ECHL. Kinasewich was named to the first team in the 2009-2010 season when he had 48 goals and 55 assists for 103 points in 59 games. Herbert is the first player to have more than 30 goals since Kinasewich had his 48 goals season.
Last Grizzlies player to be named to either the first or second team all league was Defenseman Nick Tuzzolino, who was named 2nd team all ECHL in the 2012-2013 season.
Grizzlies Signed Goaltender Alex Leclerc
Alex Leclerc made his professional debut on April 5th at Idaho as he was inserted into the lineup with 1:03 left in the 2nd period. Leclerc stopped 9 of 10 shots. He played for 3 seasons with Colorado College, where he won 38 games. He had a .914 save percentage in the 2018-2019 season. He is 5’11” and 185 pounds. Leclerc is 23 years old.

Ryan Walters Out With Injury
Forward Ryan Walters is out of the lineup with a lower body injury. Walters had another solid season for the Grizzlies, where he had 17 goals and 31 assists in 64 games. Walters led the team by a wide margin in shots on goal (224). Next closest in shots on goal is Caleb Herbert with 187.

March 22nd at Allen – 5-2 win. Joey Ratelle had 2 goals. Turner Ottenbreit 1 goal 1 assist. Grizz clinched a playoff spot. Jack Walker & Ryan Walters 2 assists each. Kevin Carr 37 of 39 saves.
March 23rd at Allen – 6-3 loss. Grizz 3-7 on power play. Caleb Herbert 1 goal 1 assist. Jack Walker 2 assists.
March 27th at Wichita – 5-2 loss. Turner Ottenbreit and Austin Carroll 1 goal each. Ty Lewis 2 assists.
March 29th at Allen – 5-3 win. Ty Lewis 2 goals and 1 assist. Mitch Maxwell had 1 goal 1 assist. Allen only 19 shots on goal.
March 30th at Tulsa – 2-1 shootout loss. Joe Cannata saved 46 of 47. Joey Ratelle scored lone Utah goal.
March 31st at Tulsa – 6-0 loss.
April 5th at Idaho – 3-1 loss. Kevin Davis scored for Utah. Kevin Carr 20 of 21 saves, Alex Leclerc 9 of 10.

Kevin Davis Is Back
Grizzlies welcomed defenseman Kevin Davis back to the lineup last Saturday at Tulsa. Davis scored the lone Utah goal last night. Davis has 2 goals and 18 assists for Utah in 25 games.
Utah vs Idaho
Utah swept Idaho in a 3 game series from Feb.6-9 at Maverik Center. Since that series Utah is 5-13-0-4. Idaho is 12-7-2 since that series. Utah completed the sweep after a 2 goal performance by Mitch Maxwell. Grizz scored exactly 4 goals in each game.
On Martin Luther King Day, January 21st Idaho won 7-4.
Prior to the January 21st game all 4 previous 2 game series ended in splits. In doing the basic win-loss math the Grizzlies have won 7 games and Idaho has won 5.
