West Valley City, Utah – Utah Grizzlies Head Coach/General Manager Tim Branham announced today that the team has signed forward Peter Sivak for the 2017-2018 season.
“Peter is an elite ECHL player,” said Branham. “He will be a big part of our offense.”
Sivak, 35, has totaled 312 points in 299 career ECHL games on 136 goals and 176 assists. He comes to Utah as the third leading scorer in the ECHL since embarking on his North American career in 2012 with San Francisco. He has played in 892 total professional games.
“Adding Peter to our top forward line was a top priority this summer,” said Branham. “We have a great group of returning players to surround him with on the ice and in the locker room.”
He spent last season with the Alaska Aces where he totaled 65 points in 53 games on 35 goals and 30 assists. The Aces were 26-21-1-5 with Sivak in the lineup and 6-9-2-2 with him out of the lineup during a midseason injury.
In his career against Utah, Sivak had 28 points in 30 games on 10 goals and 18 assists.
The United States citizen, who’s a native of the Czech Republic, has totaled 30 goals or more in three of his five ECHL seasons. He was a member of the Alaska team in 2013-2014 that won the Kelly Cup Championship. During that season, he also was named to the league’s First Team; won the league’s Sportsmanship Award and was the ECHL’s Plus-Performer of the Year with a Plus-49.
