Joe Cannata Named ECHL Goaltender of the Week
West Valley City, Utah – Joe Cannata has been named the CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Oct. 12-14. It was the first week for Cannata in a Grizzlies uniform, who is under an NHL contract with the Colorado Avalanche.
Cannata had an identical stat line in his 2 wins for the week, stopping 26 of 28 shots in each of his 2 victories, both against the Rapid City Rush. In total, Cannata stopped 52 of 56 shot attempts for the week.
“I’m very happy for Joe. He had a great weekend. Kept things calm for us, made big saves, and did a great job of controlling the game,” says head coach Tim Branham.
It is the third time in his career he has received the honor. He previously won the award from Jan 8-14, 2018. It’s the second time Cannata has won Goaltender of the Week on opening weekend as he won from Oct 17-19, to begin the 2014-15 season.
