Loveland, Colorado - The Colorado Eagles defeated the Utah Grizzlies 7-3 Friday night at Budweiser Events Center.
Colorado scored four power-play goals and scored twice in the final minute of a period to kill any Grizzlies momentum.
Ryan Walters (one goal, one assist), Greger Hanson (one goal, one assist) and Michael Pelech (two assists) all had multiple-points.
“Pelech and Walters played great,” said Hanson. “We got a couple of goals and we can bring that into tomorrow, but we need to work harder and be better on special teams. If you play good defense, they’ll make mistakes.”
Utah cut two Colorado leads to one twice at 2-1 and 3-2 before Colorado rolled off four-straight to take control of the contest.
Greger Hanson led Utah up ice and fed Jon Puskar, who returned to the lineup tonight after missing 15-straight games. After Puskar was denied, defenseman Cliff Watson scored his sixth of the year. That goal made it 2-1 with 7:07 left in the first period. The Eagles added a power-play goal in the final minute of the first to make it 3-1.
Pelech fed Ryan Walters on a two-on-owe to make it 3-2 6:12 into the second period before Colorado came back with numbers 28 seconds later.
Colorado added two power-play goals in the third period to make it 7-2 before Walters and Pelech grinded late and found Hanson for his sixth of the season.
Kevin Carr was replaced by Angus Redmond in goal to start the third period.
