West Valley City, Utah – Utah Grizzlies Head Coach/General Manager Tim Branham announced today that the team has named Chris Schornack Head Equipment Manager.
Schornack, 24, comes to Utah after spending the 2016-2017 season with the Amarillo Bulls of the North American Hockey League as Head Equipment Manager/Assistant Director of Hockey Operations. He assisted the Anaheim Ducks AHL affiliate in San Diego during the 2017 playoffs along with Branham, Grizzlies Head Athletic Trainer Cole Libby and former Grizzlies Head Equipment Manager Ryan Tall. Schornack spent the 2015-2016 season as the Head Equipment Manager at Adrian College where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in Sport Management in 2015.
“Chris will be another success story from our young staff that helps to set a positive and professional tone in our locker room,” said Branham. From the 2016-2017 Grizzlies Hockey Operations staff, Assistant Coach Jeff Carr was named Head Coach of the SPHL’s Knoxville Ice Bears, Head Athletic Trainer Cole Libby was named the ECHL Athletic Trainer of the Year and Tall moved up the Anaheim Ducks ladder to San Diego.
While in college, the Michigan native worked in professional baseball as the Clubhouse Manager for the Washington Wild Things of the Frontier League and at the Detroit Tigers Spring Training facility in Lakeland, Florida.
Growing up, he served as a Stick Boy for the Motor City Mechanics of the United Hockey League.
Opening Night is Saturday, October 14 when the Grizzlies host Colorado at 7 p.m.
