West Valley City, Utah – Utah Grizzlies Assistant Coach Jeff Carr today was named Head Coach of the Knoxville Ice Bears in the Southern Professional Hockey League.
Carr, 32, joined the Grizzlies prior to the start of the 2016-2017 season as the team’s Assistant Coach; with an emphasis on video, player development and recruiting. He ran the Grizzlies defensemen during games.
“I want to thank Jeff for all of his hardwork and dedication to our organization and wish him the best of luck in Knoxville,” said Head Coach/General Manager Tim Branham. “He will have success as a Head Coach.”
Carr was instrumental in Utah’s final run down the stretch of the regular season as they clinched their tenth-straight playoff berth with a 7-1 record in their final eight games after falling 14 points out of the spot entering the day on January 6. Utah went 27-13-3-1 after December 23 to finish the season 36-29-5-2.
He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Management and a Minor in Coaching from the University of Minnesota Crookston (UMC).
Opening Night at Maverik Center is Saturday, October 14 at 7 p.m. against Colorado.
