West Valley City, Utah - The Allen Americans scored three goals in the third period, including a late empty-netter to beat the Utah Grizzlies 4-2 Wednesday night at Maverik Center before 5,315 fans and taking a 2-1 series lead in the best-of-seven first round set.
“I think we were really energetic with our crowd tonight and we need to a better job of making sure we are thinking the game,” said Head Coach/General Manager Tim Branham. “We love our crowd, they are behind us 100-percent; but we have a game plan here and we need to make sure we stick to it.”
For the third-straight game in the series, Utah led going to the third period before Allen came back.
Allen tied the contest 2:53 into the third period and took the lead on a major power-play situation 9:17 into the frame. Utah killed the rest of the penalty to hold the game within a goal.
