04/05/2017 10:06 PM -

West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies (35-28-5-2) defeated the Missouri Mavericks 2-1 in overtime Wednesday night at Maverik Center before 5,268 fans.

The win gives the Grizzlies their sixth-straight victory as they look to lock in their tenth-straight playoff appearance.

“This stretch has been good from top to bottom,” said Head Coach/General Manager Tim Branham. “The boys have done an amazing job. We know what’s on the line. We want to make the playoffs and make some noise here. Missouri is a good team, they worked hard.”

Garrett Haar  scored both Utah goals in the contest, including the game-winning goal 2:07 into the 3-on-3 sudden-death overtime. He gave Utah a 1-0 lead with a blast on the power-play 4:24 into the third period to break the scoreless tie on Utah’s 33rd shot of the night.

“Definitely a great move bringing Garrett Haar in,” said Branham who acquired the defenseman from Tulsa at the ECHL trade deadline on March 9.  “Every single game he’s played has been tremendous. He’s been a huge part of our team, I know he feels a huge part of it. He’s super excited to be here. You can’t say enough about the job Garrett’s done.”

The Mavericks tied the game 1:40 later in a contest that was tied for 58:20 of overtime.

Anaheim Ducks prospect Kevin Boyle stopped 19 of 20 shots in the contest to improve to 4-0 in the last eight days for Utah and 8-5-1-0 overall.
