The Grizzlies returned Patrick Wellar to the lineup on Wednesday after he missed seven-straight games. Utah also expects to return a few more healthy bodies this weekend in Anchorage. Tune into 1320 KFAN or ECHL.TV for all the latest at 9 p.m. tonight.
The Grizzlies who have played Alaska just once this year and beat the Aces 4-3 at Maverik Center on December 10, now start four-straight with the Aces who they are neck and neck in the standings with. The Aces have been off since December 20, while Utah plays their fourth game in six nights this evening.
Igor Bobkov did not appear in a game for the Grizzlies at Sullivan Arena last year as they made only one trip to Alaska for three games before Christmas. Ryan Faragher played twice here during college for St. Cloud State and split two games during the 2012-2013 season and allowing three goals each night.
Utah is 5-1-1-0 this year when winning the power-play. The Grizzlies have only two wins this year when getting outscored on the power-play.
The line of Michael Pelech, Mathieu Aubin and Alex Krushelnyski has now combined for seven goals and 12 assists in the last four games. All three
players have four-game scoring streaks into tonight.
The only three-game series the Grizzlies have ever won in Alaska was right after Christmas in 2007 when they took two of three games December 28, 29 and 31.

-The Grizzlies host Colorado tonight and Monday to wrap up 4-straight games against the Eagles.
-The two teams play the second game in a three-game in four-night stretch.
-Utah looks for their sixth-straight win at home tonight.
-After a 7-14-1-2 start last year going into Christmas, Utah went 31-10-2-4 post Christmas to lead the ECHL.
-The stretch started a year ago tonight with a 2-1 win in Colorado.
Pelech and Aubin
-Acquired together from Cincinnati last year in November, Mathieu Aubin and Michael Pelech are the Grizzlies top two leading scorers and the only two players to play in all 26 games entering tonight.
-Since November 22 they are 11th and 12th in the league in scoring as Aubin has nine goals and seven assists for 16 points in 13 games.
-Pelech has six goals and 10 assists for 16 points in the last 13 games.
-Aubin is sixth in the league in scoring since December 5 with six goals and seven assists.
-Pelech leads the team with 14 goals and 12 assists for 26 points in 27 games.
-Aubin had one goal and three assists for four points in the first 16 games through November 28 as he returned from a broken neck.
-Since then, he has nine goals and seven assists for 16 points in the last 11 games.
-Colorado built a 3-0 lead, Utah rallied with two goals in 55 seconds to make it 3-2.
-Utah had 7 of the first 7:55 of the third period on the power-play looking to tie game, but was unable.
-Utah went 0-3 on power-play and Colorado went 2-4.
-Igor Bobkov stopped 23 of 26 shots in his fifth-straight start for Utah.
-Camden Wojtala scored his first pro goal and had one goal and one assist as did Alex Krushelnyski.
-Michael Pelech scored his team leading 14th goal of night.

The Grizzlies look for another strong start after Christmas after taking the ECHL by storm last year by going 31-10-2-4 following December 25 after a 7-14-1-2 record going into the holiday. The stretch started with a 2-1 win over Colorado in Colorado on December 27.
Alex Krushelnyski has scored three of his four goals this year against Colorado. Michael Pelech leads all scorers in the Utah/Colorado season series with six goals and ten points in nine games.
Grizzlies defenseman Jacob Johnston is second among ECHL d-men with 74 shots on goal.
Utah has been off since last Wednesday, while Colorado went from Utah to Ontario where they took two of three games against the Reign last Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Igor Bobkov will make his 14-15 home debut tonight after being assigned directly from Anaheim last weekend. He last appeared for the Grizzlies at Maverik Center on March 22 in a 4-1 win over Idaho. He went 8-1-1-1 in his last 11 starts at Maverik Center last year and 9-3-2-2 overall at home. Bobkov went 3-2 overall against Colorado last season.
Utah is 8-0-2-0 on Wednesday nights at home over the last two seasons.
Utah has played 10 of their last 12 games on the road and 14 of 25 games away from Maverik Center as they return home tonight looking for their 5th straight home win.
-Defenseman Matt Pelech was loaned to the Buffalo Sabres AHL affiliate in Rochester on Tuesday.
-A veteran of over 400 games, with all by 10 in the AHL or NHL, Pelech had two goals and six assists for eight points in ten games with the Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies have their two highest goal outputs of the season in their two games with Bakersfield. They scored a season-high six last night after putting up five goals against Bakersfield on November 29.
Both teams are wrapping up four games in five nights.
Utah has gotten off to good starts in both wins this week outscoring the opposition 5-1 in the first periods.
Mathieu Aubin will be in the running for the ECHL’s Player of the Week award. Entering tonight, he is tied for the league lead in scoring for the week with four goals and three assists for seven points in three games and a plus-five. Aubin has three three-point games over the last four games and overall has nine goals and six assists for 15 points in his last eight games as he has scored in seven of them.
Jacob Johnston has joined Mathieu Aubin (six goals, five assists) with a five-game scoring streak as the defenseman has two goals and five assists in his last five.
Rookie Cam Wojtala had his first pro multiple-point game last night with two assists and has three assists in his last three games. He clanged a post early in the first period just missing his first professional goal.
Also, Kevin Lind had his first professional goal last night to make it 2-0 Utah in the first period.

Utah and Bakersfield combined for 11 goals, including seven in the first period, in their first meeting two weeks ago as the Condors scored four of their six goals on the power-play and scored the game-winner four-on-four in overtime. Bakersfield’s only five-on-five goal came off of a third period turnover.
Five Grizzlies had multiple point games in that contest with Mathieu Aubin scoring two goals; Connor Hardowa and Vinny Scarsella each had one goal and one assist and Alex Krushelnyski and Matt Pelech each had two assists.
Mathieu Aubin has factored in on seven of the Grizzlies last eight goals with four goals and three assists.
He is second in the ECHL over the last eight days in scoring with four goals and four assists in four games.
Defenseman Jacob Johnston also brings a four-game scoring streak into tonight with two goals and three assists over the last eight days.
In Igor Bobkov’s return to the lineup last night, it was the first time in eight games that the Grizzlies have allowed two goals or less in a game. It was just the second time all year (5-2) that the Grizzlies have given up two goals or less in a game and lost.
The Grizzlies drew a season-high eight power-plays last night but hit a few posts and Ontario goaltender Jussi Olkinuora stole the show by making 27 of 28 saves as the Grizzlies doubled up the Reign in scoring chances.
Bakersfield’s three leading scorers and the top three rookie scorers in the ECHL are all in the AHL right now with Kellen and Connor Jones getting recalled yesterday and Josh Winquist going up last week.

The Grizzlies will have Igor Bobkov in uniform tonight as he comes directly from the Anaheim Ducks. Bobkov was with the Ducks from November 3-5 and November 30 until yesterday.
The Grizzlies are opening three games in three nights for the first time this year and the first of three times on the season.
Ontario is wrapping up three games in three nights after playing in a shootout in Bakersfield last night and losing 4-3. They lost 3-2 in overtime on Wednesday at home to Bakersfield. The Grizzlies coaching staff was in Bakersfield last night to pre-scout the two opponents for the weekend as the team will be playing the Condors Friday and Saturday.
Michael Pelech’s scoring streak is now at eight games with three goals and eight assists. The longest current streak in the league is ten and a fourteen game point streak by Allen’s Jack Combs is the longest so far this season. It’s the Grizzlies longest scoring streak since Mitch Wahl scored in 11 consecutive games from January 6, 2013-February 9, 2013.
Mathieu Aubin has back to back three point games for the Grizzlies with three goals and three assists. He has six goals and four assists in his last six games. Aubin has factored in on six of the Grizzlies last seven goals and seven of the last nine over the last three games.

The Grizzlies host Alaska tonight before hitting the road once again for California for Friday, Saturday, Sunday action as they begin to wrap up their current stretch of nine of 12 games on the road.
This is the first of ten meetings between Utah and Alaska, the first of four at Maverik Center and the first of five overall between now and January 7. Utah and Alaska each have 20 points in the standings with the Aces holding a game in hand.
The Grizzlies haven’t allowed a power-play goal in four-straight games and is 20 for their last 21 at five home over the last five games at home.
Utah is fourth in the ECHL on the PK at home at 91.3-percent.
The Grizzlies have added goaltender Daniel Spence who started the year in Sweden and played last year in Finland. He went 30-23 over three years at Nipissing University and 106-69-13 in five years of major junior hockey with the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL and Sarnia Sting of the OHL.

A point tonight by Michael Pelech gives him a seven-game scoring streak and ties the Grizzlies season-high from last year when David Vallorani and Danick Paquette each had one from March 1-March 22.
Pelech has scored in 15 of 20 games this year for the Grizzlies. 11 of his 42 shots have scored with a 26.2 shooting percentage to lead the team.
Jacob Johnston and Brent Gwidt both led the Grizzlies last night with four shots on goal.
Back out west, it was a wild night in the Pacific Division last night with each winner scoring at least five goals and all three other games having at least eight combined goals. Including Utah/Wheeling, the winner against Pacific Division opponents each had at least five goals as Idaho beat Bakersfield 5-4, Alaska 6-4 over Stockton and Ontario 5-3 over Colorado.
Things in the Western Conference, where four of seven teams make the playoffs, are already tight with six of seven teams above .500 or better.
If you’ve tuned in 5 minutes late the last eight days, you’ve missed quite a bit.
The Grizzlies have scored in the first 34 seconds in two of their last four games, while the opposition has scored six times in the first four minutes in the last four games.

Utah is on their third three-game unbeaten streak of the year and looks for a four-game unbeaten streak for the first time this year.
The Grizzlies will play their first ever game in the state of West Virginia and their first ever game with the Wheeling Nailers tonight and tomorrow.
13 goals, including 11 in regulation over the last three games, is a high for Utah in three consecutive games this year.
The Grizzlies have scored a goal in the first 34 seconds in two-straight road games and in two of their last three games overall.
The first periods have been wild in the last three games with Utah outscoring the opposition seven-six.
Four of the five games that goaltender Joe Howe (2-1-0-2) has appeared in have gone to shootouts. He has stopped eight-straight shootout chances and in three of the games has combined to stop 11 of 12 and 12 of 16 overall.
Defenseman Connor Hardowa was loaned to the AHL’s Texas Stars on Thursday.
The Grizzlies acquired Myles Harvey from Wheeling in November, Gentry Zollars played for the Nailers last year.
Michael Pelech has tied a season-high with his second five-game scoring streak of the year. He previously had a point in five-straight games from October 22-November 1. Pelech had Utah’s first three-point night of the year on Cincinnati with two goals and one assist.

The Grizzlies play in the city of Cincinnati for the first time since the 2004-2005 season when they were in the AHL. However, this is the first time the Grizzlies have played in downtown Cincinnati at the now US Bank Arena since March 27, 2001, when they beat the Cyclones in the IHL 3-2.
Overall in this building, the Utah Grizzlies went 3-2-0-2 from March 20, 1998-March 27, 2001.
Four Grizzlies played for Cincinnati in the past. Mathieu Aubin played 291 career games here and won championships in 2008 and 2010. He also served as team captain. Aubin had 110 goals and 165 assists for 265 points with Cincinnati. Michael Pelech had 26 goals and 64 assists for 90 points in 110 career games. Barry Almeida had 15 goals and 11 assists for 26 points in 42 games last year with Cincinnati and also appeared in 22 playoff games as the Cyclones went to the Kelly Cup Finals. He had two goals and six assists during that run. And goaltender Joe Howe went 10-3-4 with Cincinnati with a 2.78 goals-against-average, a .907 save percentage and one shutout. He was 5-3-1-3 at home.
Utah’s rallied from 3-1 deficits in two-straight games to collect three of four points. The Grizzlies have also withstood giving up five goals combined in the first 3:36 of their last two contests.

-The Grizzlies sandwich a home game tonight in the middle of seven of eight games on the road.
-Utah plays Idaho for the third of 13 games this season and the second of six games at Maverik Center.
-This is Utah’s only home game in a 22-day span from November 18-December 9 as they are in a nine of 12 games on the road stretch.
-The Grizzlies will make their first ever ECHL trip to Cincinnati for a game Wednesday and then on to Wheeling, West Virginia Friday and Saturday.
-Grizzlies forward Mathieu Aubin will play in his 499th career game tonight, with his 500th career game slated for Wednesday in Cincinnati where ironically he played 291 career games.
Ducks prospect Ryan Faragher, 4-3-1-0 with Utah, was called up to the Ducks AHL affiliate in Norfolk today.
-Idaho beat Utah 3-1 Opening Night at Maverik Center building a 2-0 first period lead on October 17.
-The Grizzlies built a 3-1 second period lead and held on 3-2 against Idaho the next night in Boise on October 18.
-Utah is 3-11 on the power-play against Idaho after a 3-7 effort on the 18th and eight of nine on the penalty-kill.
-After weeks in second place, the Grizzlies penalty-kill moved into first place in the ECHL on the PK at the start of action Saturday.
-The stay at the top was short lived as Bakersfield scored three power-play goals on a major penalty in the first 3:26 of the game and added a fourth power-play goal to tie the contest at 5 late in the third period.
-Five goals scored by Utah on Saturday was a season-high for the season, as was four goals in the first period which also tied their season high for most goals in a period.
-Mathieu Aubin joined Michael Pelech as the only Grizzlies who have scored two goals in a game this season with two goals Saturday.
-Vinny Scarsella and Connor Hardowa each had one goal and one assist.
-Nine of Utah’s 16 skaters scored in the game.
-1-4 on the power-play Saturday made Utah 2-6 on their California swing on the one man advantage.
-Second year Grizzlies forward Vinny Scarsella has three goals in his last four games and led the Grizzlies in scoring in November with four goals and five assists for nine points in eleven games.
-Scarsella leads the Grizzlies with three multiple-point games.
-He leads Utah with three goals and five assists for eight points on the power-play.
