The Grizzlies enter day two with two of the top three leading scorers in the league after Jamie MacQueen had four goals and David Vallorani had three assists last night.
MacQueen also led Utah with seven shots last night. Utah came out meaning business; they tallied 21 shots in the first period.
Utah led for 56:34 of the contest last night after taking a 1-0 lead 3:26 into the contest and never looking back.
Tim Branham’s penalty-kill that he oversaw last year in Reading ranked third in the league. Utah is now 13 for 13 over their last two games after allowing three power-play goals during their first preseason game.

This Utah team looks to be one that will score goals by working hard. One issue in the ECHL is talented players who aren’t willing to pay the price and go to the tough spots that it takes to score, I don’t see that being a problem with this group. One thing I noticed in Saturday’s pre-game team meeting with Tim Branham is how detailed he was with his team. There was definitely a lot covered and it resulted in the team going among other things 7-7 on the penalty-kill after allowing 3 power-play goals to Idaho the night before.
In today’s article from Steve Luhm in The Salt Lake Tribune, Branham did not announce who would start, we’ll see it tonight when the team takes the ice for warm-ups.
Branham remarked how having three top goaltenders is a good problem to have.
Utah and Idaho meet for the 1st of 13 times on the year, eight of the 13 meetings will take place at Maverik Center.
Utah’s roster includes eight players who have played with the team at some point in the past.
Head Coach Tim Branham is one of nine ECHL coaches who will debut with their current teams this weekend.
